Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014

Of all the fashion houses that have revealed their spring line, none have been more exciting than Dolce & Gabbana. Their designs are intricate, feminine, and beautiful with more than a touch of influence from antiquity. The designs feature heavy embroidery, gold, medallions, and graphic prints featuring famous ancient architecture and artwork. The spring line exudes a fairytale feeling; light airy fabric, flowing skirts, ruffles, flowers, and lace.

What is so amazing about these designs is that they are infinitely wearable. Too often, in high fashion, designers get wrapped up in the art and lose the fact that they are attempting to sell these to the public.

Here is what I take away from the Spring line. The elements that I believe will shape the fashions in the coming year.

    • High Necklines
    • Thick Belts
    • Accentuated Hourglass Figures
    • Wispy Updo’s
    • Chunky Earrings

Dolce and Gabbana 2014

Another possible trend is a renewed interest in antiquities and ancient culture. This is a fantastically exciting idea. In a modern world where social media and technology dominate our attention, interest in culture, art, architecture, and philosophy would be a breath of fresh air. I, for one, am looking forward to what they have in store for us next.
